These FAQs should help potential volunteers understand the commitment and opportunities they’ll encounter at this sanctuary.

Volunteers assist with feeding, grooming, cleaning stalls, and maintaining the grounds. Some may also help with administrative tasks or event preparation. After exclusive natural horsemanship training and skill-based assessments, volunteers may occasionally lead or handle our horses.

No experience is necessary. Training is provided, and we ensure that volunteers learn essential skills, including safe horse handling and care routines.

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, jeans or long pants, and closed-toe shoes/boots, and be prepared to learn in an outdoor ranch environment.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age. Parents wishing to join their under-age children must participate in our volunteer activities and be a member of the National Charity League or National Charity Roundtable. Both organizations have designated dates for volunteering at our sanctuary. The parent must be in attendance with the child when volunteering.

Volunteers are usually expected to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week, though more flexibility may be available based on need and availability.

No, we will provide you with the equipment you need. But you must wear safety glasses and gloves for work activities.

Initial training includes an orientation to cover safety protocols, horse handling basics, and ranch routines. Ongoing training is available to help you gain more skills as you continue.

Safety is our top priority. Volunteers are required to follow guidelines for handling horses, using equipment, and emergency protocols. All volunteers require CPR and Stop the Bleed Training & Certification.

Volunteers gain hands-on experience with horses, learn valuable skills, and may have opportunities to ride or attend special ranch events
