Community Invitation: Join Henry’s Home for Military Cultural Competency Training

At Henry’s Home, we believe in creating a community of understanding, healing, and connection. This dedication extends beyond our rescued horses to include the Veterans and Retired First Responders who rely on our equine-assisted learning programs for hope and growth. To deepen this mission, we invite our volunteers and community leaders to attend our Military Cultural Competency Training on March 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. Here’s why this training matters—not just for us but for every organization striving to support Veterans and their families.

Bridging the Gap with Understanding

Imagine entering a room where no one speaks your language or understands your experiences. This is often how Veterans and their families can feel when seeking help. The Military Cultural Competency Training is designed to change that. It equips participants with the tools to understand better the unique challenges faced by those who have served. Topics like depression, anxiety, stress, and addictive behaviors are addressed with sensitivity and insight, enabling organizations like Henry’s Home to meet Veterans where they are.

This training bridges the civilian and military worlds, creating a culture of empathy, respect, and connection.

Core Skills That Make a Difference

This training isn’t just about theory; it’s packed with practical tools to enhance how we work with Veterans and their families. The program covers critical topics, including fundamentals of peer support, interpersonal and assessment skills, and managing mental health challenges like depression and suicide.

These skills are essential for the work we do at Henry’s Home. Our equine-assisted learning programs depend on trust and human connection. These horses aren’t just therapeutic—they’re partners in helping Veterans open their hearts to communication and emotional growth. To strengthen this process, our volunteers and staff must embody the understanding and support our Veterans deserve.

Aligning with Henry’s Home’s Mission

Henry’s Home is about second chances for the horses and the people we serve. Veterans take on new journeys with us, redefining their lives and finding healing through our programs. By attending this training, we can ensure that every team member understands the complexities of military life and its impact on mental health.

This knowledge extends beyond Henry’s Home to our broader community. When neighbors, partners, and supporters understand what Veterans face, we create a ripple effect of compassion, one act of kindness at a time.

A Call to Action

We encourage everyone connected to Henry’s Home to attend this transformative training. Whether you’re a hands-on volunteer or part of our supportive community, this is your chance to make a difference. Together, we can amplify our impact, ensuring that the Veterans and Retired First Responders who trust us feel fully seen, heard, and supported.

Please mark your calendar for March 15, 2025, at 1:30 PM, and join us in taking this vital step forward. By investing in understanding today, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate tomorrow—for our Veterans, our horses, and all the lives we touch.
